Victoria’s picturesque inner harbour is also the setting for the 37th edition of the Victoria Classic Boat Festival featuring an enormous number of traditional yachts and workboats of all descriptions.
Newport Boat Show Sep 11-13
The Annual Newport International Boat Show will feature new sailboats and powerboats, and thousands of products and services from both domestic and international exhibitors. Multiple waterfront facilities along America’s Cup Avenue host the Show including Newport Yachting Center, Oldport Marine, Bannisters Wharf and Bowens Wharf. All Show sites are accessible by land or by water taxi service.
Mosquito Creek Boat Show Sep 18-21
The 8th annual Boat Show at the Creek takes place at Mosquito Creek Marina, owned and operated by the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumix (Squamish Nation). Expect over 150 yachts on display for their 50th anniversary along with educational seminars and a beer garden aboard the Celebration on Water.

New Dinghy Dock at Winter Cove, Saturna Island
Boaters who haven’t visited Winter Cove on Saturna for the past few years will be happy to see a new dinghy dock and ramp off the old log dump area. With the aim of preventing any negative impact to the shoreline, Parks Canada has now provided a dry alternative to going ashore. More details here.
BC Provinical Government purchases Quadra Island Land for Marine Park Usage
The Province, with support from several groups, will be acquiring almost 400 hectares of private property on Quadra Island, linking two provincial parks to further protect unique and sensitive ecosystems. As a result, Small Inlet Marine and Octopus Islands Marine provincial parks will be connected, increasing the island’s designated protected area. With numerous bays and small islands, these parks serve as habitat for a host of marine life including salmon, harbour seals, porpoises and octopi. More Details Here.
