Greenline 33 arrives in Vancouver

Earlier this spring, we reported the arrival in Vancouver of the world’s first production hybrid yacht, the Greenline 40.  Both the yacht and the concept of hybrid yachting were, as expected, as well-received in the local market as internationally (over 300 Greenline Yachts have been delivered worldwide).

This month marks the arrival of the Greenline 33 at Bosuns Yacht Sales‘ office in Vancouver.  We think the 33, Greenline’s entry offering, is a winner – expect to see more of these fine yachts around our waters in the seasons to come!

Review: North Pacific 38

Canadian Yachting readers may recall The Pirate’s Cruise, a CPS article featuring a day-cruise through the local waters around Nanaimo, B.C..  The piece featured Simbuyo (‘Intense Passion’) a beautiful example of the 38′ Sedan from North Pacific Yachts.  Island Harmony, a sister ship of Simbuyo, recently graced the cover of Canadian Yachting Magazine’s May 2013 edition as part of it’s sea trial review of the model.

NEW PUBLICATION: Puget Sound – A Boater’s Guide
by Anne & Laurence Yeadon-Jones

Puget Sound Guide

In their seventh Dreamspeaker Guide, Anne and Laurence continue their explorations below 48° North to Puget Sound, the most southerly and protected boating region in the Pacific Northwest. It took them two summers on the water to record the wonderful labyrinth of inlets, passages and harbors that make up the densely populated sound, and they were pleasantly surprised to find a wealth of well-maintained marinas, peaceful state parks, protected anchorages and welcoming waterfront communities that helped make this guide possible.   To order your copy click here .

BOATING TIP:  Sailing with the Family

“Are you looking for an entertaining and exiting family activity for this summer? You may have never thought about this, but sailing is one of the only sports I can think of where you can have three generations on board and have a good time.  Normally I see mom or dad taking their kid to a ball game, a tennis lesson or a some other sport activity. They support their kids from the sideline or, at the most, get involved in coaching them or their team.   When you take your children sailing, you don’t have to be on the sideline. You are part of the team, working together. It is not uncommon to have the young sailors teach their parents a trick or two they picked up during a sailing class.”          — Vancouver Sun

QUOTABLE

By the time most of us are in our 80′s, we will have been retired for 10, 15, or maybe even 20 years. There are rare exceptions, and in some cases folks with the benefit of additional decades of experience produce some of their best work late in a productive lifetime. That would appear true about Forbes Cooper, generally acknowledged as the founder of the modern boat building industry in British Columbia.
