Marine Security Measures – Vancouver Olympic Games
The following four areas will have restricted or no access:
• The coastline of Howe Sound will be a Controlled Access Zone and marine transit is accessible by escort only.
• At False Creek, just east of Cambie Bridge and the south side of False Creek on the shore of Athletes Village, will be an exclusion zone with no unauthorized access or activity. The north side of False Creek will be a Controlled Access Zone.
• An Exclusion Zone is scheduled for Coal Harbour surrounding Canada Place and the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre. A Controlled Access Zone is also set for the remainder of the area from the tip just beyond the Nine O’Clock Gun to just east of Ballantyne Pier. All of Coal Harbour will be a Controlled Access Zone.
• On the Fraser River, the area between No.2 Road Bridge and Dinsmore Bridge will be a Controlled Access Zone. The area directly in front of the Olympic Skating Oval is an Exclusion Zone.
Procedures for marina access during the Olympic Games are scheduled to be announced this summer.
